Are You Making These Journaling Mistakes?

Mistake #1

You’re pouring all of your feelings into your journal (this can be SO helpful!) but you’re not turning those feelings into transformational healing and action.

Mistake #2

You start out really motivated to journal everyday… and then life gets in the way and you forget about how important and life-changing it is for your self-care and creativity.

Mistake # 3

You quit because you run out of inspiration and you just can’t think of what to write anymore.

“I love connecting to Torah in this way…

“It helped to get that part of my creative brain activated.”

This is how it Works

Once our Creative Torah Journaling program starts, on July 31, you will receive an email with instructions for joining the course in our Joyfully Jewish Online School. That’s where you’ll watch the daily video tutorials, listen to guided meditations, and read or download the encouraging and inspirational, hand-lettered Torah Artnotes and coloring pages. You can print these off, color them in, or put them up on your walls or your fridge to keep yourself inspired throughout the day. You’ll also get a suggested list of supplies to get started (but you can start with just a pencil and paper if you want).

Every week between July 31 - Sept. 7 (For 6 WEEKS

G-d willing, you’ll receive a new lesson for the week with video art tutorials and guided meditations (I know you’re busy so they’re only about 2-4 minutes each). You’ll receive 7 journal prompts each week. You can do one each day or just choose one or two if you’re busy, so you won’t feel overwhelmed. And of course, there will be a virtual Goody Bag to download each week, full of surprises to get you excited about your Creative Torah Journaling journey! And there will be links to hand-picked Torah classes if you have more time to learn.

Get Support and Inspiration Every day!

You’ll be invited to join our “Create Your Joyfully Jewish Life!” private Facebook group. All the participants of the challenge can share their work, ideas and results in the group and get feedback and support from other inspired women. If you’re not on Facebook, no worries. You can share your thoughts and creative work right inside the course, or email me directly to share your insights or to ask questions.

Hi! I’m Rae Shagalov

See that little girl next to me? That’s my granddaughter and she’s my “why.” My grandchildren are why I work so hard to make sure meaningful Jewish connection is at the core of everything we do.

I strongly believe that G-d endowed us with many gifts that can be used to energize ourselves, nurture our families and light up the world! Even if 5 minutes a day is all you’ve got.

Connecting to G-d  is always about going higher and keeping yourself inspired which is why it’s so easy to fall when you don’t make time for yourself to reflect on your personal and spiritual growth. We are all growing two steps forward and one step backward (well, sometimes two steps backward and one step forward). As long as we are growing – no matter how slowly – there is hope in aspiring to be better…even if we aren’t quite sure yet what better is.

You have a very special job in this world. There are certain holy sparks that only you can elevate. If you feel overwhelmed and uninspired, how can you lift up those around you? Spiritual growth is hard work and a constant battle, but it’s very worth it in the end and fascinating along the way.

Creative journaling is a way to explore, regroup, and energize yourself to find a joyful way that works for you. It’s a fun and easy way to tune in and get connected to yourself, to your Judaism, and to G-d.

Journaling can also help you heal from painful experiences through self-care and artistic expression. It’s urgent that you find a way to channel your creative talents in a way that benefits both your soul and those you love. After all, G-d  blessed you with this talent, so He wants you to use it! That part of you needs an outlet for expression.

I believe you can find ways to use your creativity without compromising your Torah values. In fact, Torah will enhance your personal expression, like it did for me. You shouldn’t feel like you’re sacrificing the best part of yourself. There must be some way you can re-ignite it! Let’s find out how – and let’s figure out how you can carve out a few minutes in your day to get in touch with the highest and best part of yourself so that you can satisfy that part of yourself that’s longing to be set free.

I’ll be like your personal cheerleader, encouraging and inspiring you to keep moving forward! If I can help in any way, please let me know.

All you have to do is spend 10-15 minutes or so a day to use the daily journal prompts (or whatever inspires you from the videos and other goodies), and you will have a creative journal you will cherish to dream, to plan and to express the highest best part of you. So what do you say, are you in?

“I was able to receive insight from my soul about what my purpose is in this world.”
Brenda Goldstein

“The course gave me a little nudge that I need at this transitional time in my life. When the whole world is open to you, choices need to be narrowed a bit to help focus. I feel like I have some tools that I can use.”
Gail Buchbinder

“Very valuable! Had me looking at areas in my life that I could improve. Done with kedusha and love in bite size manageble pieces for us to absorb.”
