Sometimes, that’s all it takes to increase our faith and connection to Hashem. I love being Jewish! But I didn’t always. In fact, I left Judaism for 10 years and became a “spiritual tourist.” You see, when I was growing up, I never learned about the spiritual secrets of authentic Torah. I thought there was no such thing as Jewish meditation or Jewish spirituality. I didn’t even think Jews were supposed to be happy! Then, through developing my craft as a calligrapher, I discovered the mystical secrets of Judaism. When I began to explore the Alef Bet, letter-by-letter, the holy Hebrew letters led me on a quest to discover a deep, soulful, joyful Judaism I never knew existed. By the grace of G-d, from the very beginning of my Torah learning I discovered my talent as a Jewish artist. I realized that what I was learning was so profound, I wanted to be sure to review my notes over and over again and share these Torah secrets with others. I began to write my notes in calligraphy. I had classical training and was already a professional calligrapher, and I began to “doodle.” I knew that people would enjoy coloring in my doodles as they read and absorbed the wisdom on each page. It really bothers me that, just like me at the beginning of my spiritual quest, so many Jewish people have no clue about the vast treasures of their own unique spiritual inheritance. It is urgent that we each do everything we can to understand how to prepare ourselves and the world for the great time of peace and abundance we have all been waiting for. In this time of violence and suffering and economic uncertainty, we each MUST do our utmost to bring Moshiach (our long-awaited Redeemer) NOW! You have a very special job in this world.
